Valentine Foil Nails

This design is a simple nail foil design over a pastel pink base.

I started by painting all nails in 2 coats of a pastel pink colour.

I then took a nail adhesive and placed small smears of it onto every nail.

Once it was dry I used a sheet of red nail foil to transfer it onto the areas covered by the nail adhesive.

I then repeated the same thing in order to place some gold nail foil to each nail as well.

Mermaid Scales Nails

The colour and shimmer in this design, paired with the fish scale stamping pattern reminds me of a mermaid tail. I started by painting all nails in 3 coats of a white polish with very fine shimmer in it.

While each coat was drying, I used a silicone mat and stamped a fish scale pattern onto it using a black stamping polish.

I then took a thin nail brush and a green polish with gold shimmer in it to fill in some scales in the stamped pattern.

I then turned it into nail vinyls with a layer of top coat over the top. This was repeated 3 more times. I then let them dry fully before carefully removing them and adding them to my ring and thumb nails with some top coat.

I completed the design by taking the same stamping pattern and stamping it over the remaining nails. This time however I used the green shimmery polish to stamp with. Unfortunatley my top coat dragged the stamped pattern in places.

Christmas Tree Nails

This week’s design is a simple Christmas tree design ready for the holidays

I started by painting the thumb and ring finger nails in 2 coats of a bright blue shade.

On the remaining nails I used a bright red polish. I then used a multiglitter topper polish in a translucent black base over the top of each of the red nails.

I then used a green polish to paint a triangle onto each of the blue nails to make the trees.

Finally I completed the design by using a dotting tool with the red and a gold polish to dot on some baubles to each of the trees.

Gel Ridge Nails

This week’s design uses nail pigment powder that is wiped away in areas not covered in top coat to reveal the design.

I started by painting all nails in 2 coats of a light pink gel polish.

It was then covered in a no wipe top coat before brushing a pinkish copper coloured nail pigment powder over the top of everything.

I then took a thin brush and the no wipe top coat to paint some lines down each nail. The aim was to allow the lines to be raised and thicker near the top and go thinner as they reached the tips of the nails.

After the lines were cured I then used some rubbing alcohol to wash away any of the pigment powder that was not covered by the ridges of top coat.

Glitter Gradient Gel Nails

This one is a pretty straightforward gradient design over a glitter base.

I started by painting all nails in 2 coats of a turquoise multiglitter polish.

Although I am using gel for the base, top and gradient coats, the base colour is just a standard polish.

Once the base was dry, I cured a layer of top coat over it. I then placed a dark purple gel polish just in a line near the base of the thumb and ring finger nails.

I then used a flat brush to gently blend it downwards into a gradient. I placed more purple as needed and used a clear top coat to also help blend the gradient effect before giving everything one final cure.

Pearl Glitter Gradient Nails

This week’s design is a subtle glitter gradient design.

I started by painting all nails in 2 coats of a light pink shade.

I then took a fine pink glitter polish and used it to create a subtle gradient at the base of each nail.

I did this using a flat brush to place the polish at the base and then gently dragging it down towards the middle of the nail.

To complete the design I used a fine purple shimmer pearl effect topper polish. Unfortunately this was difficult to pick up on camera.

Gel Squiggles Nails

This design uses gel polish and nail pigment powder to make a squiggly line effect.

I started with a base coat and then 2 coats of a dark purple gel polish.

I then used a no wipe top coat and rubbed on a duochrome purple to pink and bronze coloured nail pigment powder. Unfortunately the photos don’t do the duochrome justice.

I then used a thin brush and the same no wipe top coat to paint on my squiggles randomly onto each nail. I painted them thickly to give a bit of a 3D effect.

Once this was fully cured I then simply washed off the excess powder with soap and water and a nail brush to reveal the design.

Purple Madness Nails

So this design is just a whole lot of purple (which just happens to be my favourite colour).

I started by painting all nails in 2 coats of a dark purple shade that has a subtle shimmer to it.

On the bottom halves of the ring and thumb nails I then painted 2 coats of a dense purple glitter polish.

This polish also has some multicoloured iridescent glitter in it as well. I placed the polish so that there was a diagonal line across the middle of the nails.

I then finished off the design by placing a strip of striping tape across the line where glitter polish ended on each of the ring and thumb nails.

Rainbow Floral Nails

For this design, I wanted something to match a dress that I was wearing for a family event. It had a floral pattern in shades of pink, purple, blue and green.

So for this design I firstly painted all nails in an off white base. Then I took a makeup sponge and the colours I was using for my background design. I decided to use a pink, green and lilac shade. These were all from the Barry M Coconut Infusion range.

I blobbed the different colours randomly onto the makeup sponge and then sponged this over the top of the nail. I repeated this for all nails until I got the look that I wanted. I then cleaned up any mess from around the nails and used a dry fast top coat over the top.

Next I stamped a floral design over the top of my background in a black stamping polish. The plate I used was Harunouta #07. I covered the entire of each nail with the stamping design. On the ring fingers I placed the design so that a large flower was in the middle of the top of the nail.

I then finished the design off by placing a single purple nail stud in the centre of the large flower that I had specifically placed on the ring fingers.

Purple and Green Cat Eye Nails

I haven’t used gel polish in a while so thought I would do a simple gel design.

I started by painting all nails in 2 coats of a dark purple polish.

Then on the thumb and ring finger nails I used 2 coats of a shimmery green cat eye polish over the bottom halves of the nail.

I then used the same green polish over the entire area of the remaining nails. On all nails I used a magnet with the second coat to get the desired effect. Unfortunately I couldn’t get it to photograph well.

To complete the design I then used a light green striping tape over the mid line in the thumb and ring finger nails.
