Colourful Lines Nails

This week’s design is a simple design with colourful stripes on top of a nude background. I painted the stripes freehand with a striping brush, as you can probably tell, as my lines aren’t exactly the neatest lol. I always both admire and envy nail art videos where the nail artist has such perfect brush control and can paint such perfect neat straight lines.

I started by painting all nails in a light cream/nude shade. I used 2 coats to get an even base colour. All colours that I used are from Barry M’s Coconut Infusion range.

I then took a striping brush and my first chosen shade for the stripes. I went with a sort of mint green colour. I painted the stripes so that they were at a different angle on each nail, but so that each hand matched.

I then took a light blue shade and the same size striping brush and placed a stripe directly to the side of the previous line.

I then repeated the same with my final colour which was a pink shade. I placed these stripes on the opposite side of the green line. However I think it would have been better to have the pink line in the middle as the green gets a bit camouflaged in with the blue.

Ocean Marble Nails

For this design, I experimented with a dry marble technique using a nail stamper and silicone mat.

I started by painting my thumb and ring finger in a light cream shade. I then used liquid tape around these nails to help with cleanup later.

On the rest of the nails I used 2 coats of a metallic blue shade. On the blue nails, I used a few black petrol effect rhinestones to add a bit of decoration to those nails.

On the remaining nails I added the dry marble effect. To do this I painted a square in the cream shade large enough to cover the nails onto a silicone mat. On top of this I blobbed a few drops of the blue shade randomly. I also did the same with a lighter blue polish.

I then dabbed my nail stamper on top of this a couple of times to blur the colours together and then stamped it onto my nail. If I felt the effect was lacking in certain areas I picked up more polish from the mat quickly before it dried too much and stamped it again. I then removed the liquid tape and cleaned up around my nails.

Winter Gems Nails

For this design I wanted to use lots of rhinestones. I started by painting all my nails in 2 coats of a baby blue shade.

Next I took a makeup sponge and a blue fine shimmery glitter. I used the sponge to apply this to the tips of the nails in a thin sort of gradient effect.

Next I used a clear polish as a glue to stick down my rhinestones. On the index and small finger nails, I applied 1 single tiny rhinestone in the middle of the top of the nail.

On the thumb, middle and ring fingers, I placed a half circle line of rhinestones at the tops of each nail. This line went from a larger sized rhinestone in the center to smaller sized rhinestones at either side. I used a total of 7 rhinestones on each nail.

On the thumbs I lined up the largest rhinestone with the centre of the nail, but on the others I lined up the centre rhinestone with the top corners of the nail. This gave the effect that the half circles were facing each other on the middle and ring fingers.

Pink Stamp and Studs Nails

I really like how the colours go together for this design. Especially the black stamped over the pink.

I started by painting all nails except my middle and little fingers in a cream shade. On the others I painted them in a pink shade. Both these colours are from Barry M’s Coconut infusion range. I really love the pink shade.

To the index and little finger I attached a single rectangular gold stud and finished them off with a top coat. To the middle fingers I used a florally type pattern from a stamping plate labelled ‘Tian Xin 19’. I stamped the pattern over the entire middle nails using a black stamping polish from Konad.

To the remaining nails, I used masking tape to tape off one half of the nail. I used the pink shade over this and peeled the tape away to make the nail half of each colour. Once this was dry I used the masking tape in the same position again. I then used the same stamping design and black polish to apply the design over the pink half of the nail.

I then removed the tape and cleared up around the stamped nails. Then to cover the line down the middle of the thumbs and ring finger nails, I applied a row of the same gold studs. I then finished everything off with a top coat.
