Iridescent Frost Nails

This was a simple glitter gradient design I made using a pot of loose iridescent glitter.

I started by painting all nails in 2 coats of a light baby blue shade.

I then used a pot of loose iridescent multi glitter and a clear top coat. I painted the tip of each nail going one at a time with the top coat and then touched the brush in a few places randomly going up the nail.

I then dipped the tip of the nail into the glitter pot. I used a sponge eye shadow applicator to dab over where the glitter went on the nail to press it in place better. I then moved up the nail slightly and continued to dab the applicator to try and create a more gradient effect between the glitter and background colour.

I then finished off with a layer of top coat. I found that more of the green comes through in the glitter in real life than what did in the pictures.

Purple and Rose Zig Zag Nails

This was a simple zig zag design using a total of 3 different colours and some zig zag nail vinyls. I started by painting the thumb, middle and ring fingers in 2 coats of an off white shade that’s got small flecks of silver glitter in it.

On the other 2 nails I used 2 coats of a dark purple shade. Once these were completely dry I used the zig zag nail vinyls to mark off where I wanted to add the next colours.

On the middle fingers I used 1 vinyl to add the dark purple to the bottom half of the nails. On the index and little fingers I did the same but used a metallic rose shade instead.

On the remaining fingers I used 2 nail vinyls on each of the nails so that I could use all 3 colours. I started with the purple and then once this was completely dry I added the 2nd nail vinyl to add the rose colour.

I must admit that I was a bit impatient with the drying times and did end up having the vinyls pull off the nail colour underneath in a few places. I also found that the consistency of the chrome polish didn’t really work well with the vinyls and so the pattern was not as clear as it could have been.

Pink Gems and Beads Nails

I was really short on time when I did this design and I hadn’t planned on having to cut all my nails down so I had to make it quick and simple.

I accidentally sliced my right hand ring finger nail while drying up one of the cutting blades in my vegetable mandolin so low down it was right where the skin joins to the nail. How I didn’t slice my finger I have no idea. So they all had to get cut down short. The nail I sliced was so hard to cut off and file without cutting the tip of my finger.

After I painted all the nails except the thumb finger nails in 2 coats of a metallic shimmery pink and bronze duochrome shade.

On the thumbs I painted 2 coats of a light cream shade.

I then finished off the design by randomly placing light pink and dark pink rhinestones as well as gold nail beads to each of the thumb nails.

Purple Lustre Nails

This design is very purple. It is my favourite colour after all.

I started by painting my thumb and ring fingers in 2 coats of a lilac shade. On the rest of the nails I used 2 coats of a dark purple.

Over the top of the lighter nails I used one coat of a gold shimmery polish from Born Pretty from their ‘Transparent Shell Glimmer Nail Polish’ range. I am really in love with theese polishes at the moment. They are so pretty and seem to be really hard wearing. On the darker nails I used one coat of the same type of Polish but in purple.

To the lighter coloured nails I then added a row of 5 purple rhinestones to the one side at the base of the nail.

I finished the design by adding a row of 4 gold nail beads underneath the rhinestones and then top coating all nails.
