Purple and Rose Zig Zag Nails

This was a simple zig zag design using a total of 3 different colours and some zig zag nail vinyls. I started by painting the thumb, middle and ring fingers in 2 coats of an off white shade that’s got small flecks of silver glitter in it.

On the other 2 nails I used 2 coats of a dark purple shade. Once these were completely dry I used the zig zag nail vinyls to mark off where I wanted to add the next colours.

On the middle fingers I used 1 vinyl to add the dark purple to the bottom half of the nails. On the index and little fingers I did the same but used a metallic rose shade instead.

On the remaining fingers I used 2 nail vinyls on each of the nails so that I could use all 3 colours. I started with the purple and then once this was completely dry I added the 2nd nail vinyl to add the rose colour.

I must admit that I was a bit impatient with the drying times and did end up having the vinyls pull off the nail colour underneath in a few places. I also found that the consistency of the chrome polish didn’t really work well with the vinyls and so the pattern was not as clear as it could have been.

Rose Frost Nails

Originally, I had planned to build up a couple of layers of chunky flakie glitter over the top of this. But after applying the fine glitter I felt it looked too subtly pretty to add anything else to it. The glitter design makes me think of a metallic kind of wintry frost.

I started by painting all nails in 2 coats of a chrome rose shade.

Once this was dry, I used a makeup sponge and blobbed a little bit of a fine pink glitter on it.

I then dabbed the sponge onto the nail. I made sure to mainly focus on applying it to the tip and working upwards to around halfway up the nail in a gradient.

I then repeated this 2 more times per nail, making sure that the most concentrated area of glitter on each nail was at the tip.
