Simple Dotty Outline Nails

This was a nice simple quite plain design that you could wear for any occasion.

I started by painting all nails in ‘Marshmallow’ from Barry M’s ‘Frosted Cupcakes’ collection. I had to use 3 coats to get the coverage I wanted. This is an off white shade with tiny flecks of silver flakes. They don’t show up too well but it does add more texture to the look of things.

I then added my dots in a bronze shade. I started by placing a larger dot in the centre of the base of each nail.

Then on either side of this dot, I added two more dots (making 4 in total) in a slightly smaller sized dotting tool. On the thumbs I added 3 dots on either side.

I then finished off the design by adding 2 more dots in the same colour on either side, underneath the previous ones in an even more slightly smaller sized dotting tool.

Lilac Spot Nails

Purple is one of my favourite colours, so I always love to use different shades of purple in my nail art designs.

_img_5497-copy

For this one I started by painting all my nails in 2 coats of a shimmery lilac shade.

_img_5498-copy

Next I took a larger dotting tool and a dark shimmery purple shade. I placed random dots in this colour over all nails.

_img_5500-copy

Next I took a smaller sized dotting tool. I used the first lilac shade and placed a smaller dot in this colour in the middle of the dark purple dots I had just made.

Lastly, using the same smaller sized dotting tool and the darker purple colour, I placed some smaller dots in random parts of the empty spaces that were remaining on each nail.

Circle Dotticure Nails

I’m really pleased with how this design turned out and the best part is it was quite quick to do. The colours and the shimmer against the dark background works well.

I started by painting all nails in 2 coats of my background colour. I went for a dark purple.

Next I took a large dotting tool and a purple metallic shade. I placed one dot per nail where I wanted the centre of my circle to be.

Then I took a smaller sized dotting tool and blue shimmery metallic shade. I placed a circle of the smaller dots around the larger dot.

I then repeated this 2 more times with a pink and then a gold metallic shimmery shade, to make a total of 3 rings of dots around the central dot.

Sunflower Nails

I have this yellow textured nail paint by Barry M which I have really wanted to try in a design lately. This sunflower design is what I came up with.

_20160501_140015 copy

I started by painting my thumb and ring fingers in 2 coats of a dark purple shade and all other nails in 2 coats of the yellow textured shade.

_20160501_140019 copy

On the purple nails I then used a thin brush and a yellow acrylic paint to paint on the petals for the sunflowers. After this had dried I went over it again to make the colour stand out more.

I then mixed a little of an orange shade into the yellow to make it a slightly darker shade. I painted one thin line in this shade down the middle of each petal.

I then took a dark brown and used a dotting tool to fill in the centre of the flowers. I made this brown lighter by mixing some of the left over yellow shade with it. I then used a tiny dotting tool to add the detail to the centre of the sunflowers.

Pink Dotty Pattern Nails

I really had no idea what to name this design. I wanted to do a pattern using dots, that was focused at the base of each nail in a half circle shape, which went around a rhinestone.

_IMG_7377 copy

I started by painting all nails in 2 coats of a shimmery pastel pink shade.

_IMG_7367 copy

Next I took a raspberry shade and a large dotting tool. I placed a large dot in the centre of the base of each nail. On top of this I placed a pink rhinestone.

_IMG_7362 copy

Next I took a medium sized dotting tool and placed 3 dots going around each of the large dots I had previously placed.

_IMG_7369 copy

I then took a small dotting tool and used this to make each of my medium dots into a kind of tear drop shape. I then placed small dots in between the gaps where I had placed the medium sized dots.

Silk Polka Dot Nails

For this design, I started off by painting all nails in 2 coats of a shimmery white shade from the Barry M Silk collection called ‘Pearl’.

_IMG_7311 copy

Next I used a purple shade from the same silk collection called ‘Orchid’. I painted 2 coats of this to the bottom half of each nail only.

_IMG_7314 copy

I then used the white shade again and a small dotting tool. I placed polka dots over the purple area on each nail.

_IMG_7315 copy

Once this was dry, I used gold coloured striping tape across the line where the white and purple background colours met in order to make it look ‘cleaner’.

_IMG_7323 copy

I finished off the design by placing a gold nail art stud on the middle of each nail on top of the striping tape.

Baby Spider Nails

For this year’s Halloween nail art I went for some simple cute baby spider nails.

_IMG_7605 copy

I started by painting all nails in 2 coats of a dark green shade.

_IMG_7609 copy

Then taking a large dotting tool and a silver colour, I put a large silver oval shape in the one corner of each nail.

_IMG_7612 copy

Next I took a silver nail art pen and used this to draw in the legs for each of the spiders.

_IMG_7619 copy

Finally, I used a black nail art pen to dot on eyes for each spider.

Pretty Pink Bow Nails

For this design, I firstly started by painting all nails except the ring finger in 2 coats of a pastel shimmery pink shade. On the ring fingers I painted 2 coats of a nude shade.

_IMG_5519

On the pink nails I used a very small dotting tool and a dark pink shade and used this 2 make 2 small triangles on each nail. Afterwards I took a medium sized dotting tool and a lighter shade of pink to place a dot in between the 2 triangles. This formed a bow shape on each nail.

_IMG_5522 copy

I found the shades of pink that I used for these bows were too similar and so it just kind of merged together. I think it would have looked a lot better if I had used a gold colour to place the dot for the centre of the bows.

_IMG_5529 copy

On the ring fingers I added some rhinestones to make a large bow shape over the whole nail. I started by placing a light pink rhinestone in the very centre of the nail.

_IMG_5528 copy

Next I took a darker colour pink rhinestone and placed 2 on either side of the one I had just placed. Next to each of these rows I added a row of 3 rhinestones in the same colour. This created a bow shape. If your nail is wide enough, then continue to add rows of rhinestones to either side, increasing the amount by 1 each time.

Purple Rain Nails

I started this design off by using a nude sort of grey/purple shade called ‘Vanilla’ from Barry M’s matte nail paints. I used 2 coats of this on all nails.

_IMG_5613 copy

Next I took a large dotting tool and a silver shade. I randomly placed dots on each nail but tried to focus them near the top of the nail. The aim was to have the dots appear like they are falling down the nail in a gradient kind of effect, with the top of the nail containing dots and the tips of the nails being plain.

_IMG_5616 copy

Next I took a smaller sized dotting tool and did the same on all nails with the same silver colour.

_IMG_5619 copy

Once this was dry I repeated the same previous 2 steps, but with a lilac colour. I overlapped both sizes of the lilac dots over the silver dots I had previously placed.

_IMG_5627 copy

Lastly, I repeated the same thing again, but with a darker purple colour. Again I overlapped this over the other dots in places. It’s better to not get carried away with the number of dots you place of each colour.

Raspberry Truffle Nails

I did these nails last year sometime, but I wasn’t really happy with how my pictures came out, which put me off from posting them. However here they are:

_IMG_5476 copy

I firstly painted all my nails in 2 coats of a shimmery light brown shade. This is actually Barry M’s ‘Truffle’ Silk nail paint.

_IMG_5477 copy

Diagonally across the bottom half of each nail I painted them in a pinkish dark red shade.

_IMG_5480 copy

Over the red area I used a fine multicoloured top coat to add some extra sparkle.

_IMG_5483 copy

Then where the line where the 2 colours met, I used a medium sized dotting tool and placed some dots in silver to cover the join. On the ring fingers I used rhinestones to do this instead.
