I really never learn when I try to paint things freehand on my nails. I always think that the brush that I choose looks a lot thinner than it is when I end up painting with it. So I feel this design was a bit of a fail as the gold lines came out way to thick for what I wanted, which makes the overall design look a bit ‘messy’.
I started by painting all my nails in 2 coats of a dark blue shade. However on the thumb, middle and ring fingers I left some negative space.
On the thumb and ring fingers I left a triangular area of negative space at the base of the nail with the point going towards the tip. I then used a striping brush and a gold polish to paint a chevron at the tip of the nail with the point going upwards.
On the middle fingers I painted it so that the blue went halfway up the nail and then made a triangle shape towards the base of the nail. In the point of this triangle I painted a light blue diamond shape.
I finished the design off by outlining the diamond in the gold shade, but I continued each line past the diamond and to the edges of the nail.
Hey great colors. I do a lot of fine lines. Some things I do
1. After all finished go back with very thin paint background color and paint that over the edge of the gold. Do the same on the inside with the corresponding color.
2 use thinner Gold paint to begin with.thr metallic paints run thicker.
3. In your ideas and practise notebook practice making lines.
Roll your nail while holding brush
This thinks will help. A lot! The rolling technique I learned from @robinmosesnailart

Thanks for the tips! I’ll have to try them out next time.
